Which of People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” Honorees has the Largest PeekScore?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Back in 1985 People Magazine did the Earth’s inhabitants a huge solid and filled them in on who, of all the many men walking the planet at that time, was the Sexiest Man Alive (it was, for the record, Road Warrior star Mel Gibson).

On a mostly annual basis in the years which have come and gone since, People has continued to keep the general public abreast of the various developments and changes in the field of sexiest men. In that time, they’ve named 23 different men — with some of the men being honored more than once — as sexiest (all but two of whom, Patrick Swayze and John F. Kennedy, Jr., are still alive).

We here at the PeekScore blog don’t know from sexy, sexier, or sexiest. That’s not our gig. These seem like a fine bunch of gentlemen, and we wish them the best. But we do know from digital footprints — a concept outlined in brief above and more in depth here — and we decided it a fine idea to see how these apparent hunks measure up in terms of their impacts and presences here in the ether of the Web.

In a move intended to – according to The Guardian“capitalize on the Top Gun star’s imminent divorce” (meaning Tom Cruise‘s), Forbes Magazine released their annual Highest Paid Actors list a bit early this year. We were happy to see it, as our readers do enjoy talk of famous people and gross sums of cash (and ideally talk of these things together).

As Forbes’ list deals with ratings grabbing celebrities and an objective way of comparing their various worths and accomplishments in the flesh and blood realm, we’ve decided to do with Forbes’ list as we do and see how these superstars compare – in terms of their impacts and impressions – here in the world of the virtual (comparing their digital footprints, as it were; a brief explanation of which can be found above, and a more in depth one can be found by clicking through here).

The man topping our list will surprise few, but what of the remainder? Any thoughts on our rankings, or on what these gentlemen are paid? Let us know in the comments.

The PeekScores of the Cast of Rock of Ages

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. The jukebox musical Rock of Ages came to Broadway in 2009, presenting itself as a tribute to the big hair and hedonism of the 1980s Sunset Strip rock scene. While the show contains virtually no music by the actual bands from that scene – instead favoring the mainstream, AOR corporate rock of roughly that same era (Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, and so forth) – it was (and remains) all the same a massive hit. On June 15 a star-studded film version of the show comes to cinema screens, and we here at the PeekScore blog view this occasion as a great excuse to do a similarly star-studded PeekScore list.

This PeekScore list, of course, is not a measurement of the celebrity or the skills of any of these folks listed below, but instead is an assessment and comparison of their assorted impacts here on the Web (their digital footprints, if you will, a concept you can see explained in brief above, or more in depth by clicking through here). The gentleman at number one would likely surprise few for topping a list of this nature, as his impact is widely recognized in spheres both actual and virtual. To Americans, however, the number two finisher may come as a greater surprise. But, in addition to being a stadium headlining comedian in his home country of the U.K., he’s also a bit of a giant at social media, and was major gossip blog fodder over the past year or so for his recent marriage to, and divorce from, Katy Perry.
