What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.
Gossip Girl – the The CW drama based upon Cecily von Ziegesar‘s popular series of young adult novels chronicling the exploits of the over-privileged youths of Manhattan’s Upper East Side – is now in its fifth season. With the show’s assorted cast members receiving media coverage for their own exploits professionally, personally, politically, and otherwise, the time seemed a great one to see how the cast measures up in the digital footprint department, and where they all fall on our good ol’ PeekScore scale.
In the grand scheme of network shows, ratings-wise, GG is very much a cult program. To see the nearly uniformly strong PeekScores below, however, you’d be well within your rights to suspect it’s the most popular show on television. Perhaps neither ironically nor surprisingly – as the show itself is in part about the blogosphere, and cast with the kinds of highly photogenic and fashionable sorts popular with actual gossip and celebrity-watching sites and blogs – the program and its cast receive an enormous amount of coverage here in cyberspace. While its demographic appeal may be rather specific, it is a demographic which wields quite the digital media influence, and leaves quite the mark on the Web.
