The PeekScores of Marvel’s and DC’s Movie Superheroes

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

It’s been a heck of a time to be a nerd, in recent years. Genre TV shows – featuring convoluted plot twists and sexy robots, and what-have-you – have massive budgets and mainstream successes, even beyond basement dwelling, Mountain Dew swilling Dungeons & Dragons devotees. And for a number of years now, each summer finds many of the season’s most hotly anticipated cinema titles featuring men and women in sculpted rubber and spandex, thwarting evildoers in spectacular, CGI-laden fashion. Comic book flicks are big business, and not just with comic book nerds.

This summer movie season has already featured Marvel’s The Avengers and is soon to bring us new installments from D.C. Comics’ Batman (opens 7/20) and Marvel’s Spider-Man (opens 7/3).

Of the actors currently associated with active, major superhero franchises, the ten names below have the largest PeekScores. The PeekScore, of course, measures not these individuals’ respective accomplishments in the worlds of cinema, but instead their impacts here in cyberspace (their digital footprints, a concept briefly explained in the disclaimer above, and more in depth by clicking through here).

Would you like to see us do a list of this nature for some older movie superheroes? How about supervillians? Let us know in the comments.

The PeekScores of the Cast of Marvel’s The Avengers

The summer film season is soon upon us, and few of the flicks to be hitting screens during this mad flurry of billion dollar would-be blockbusters is more hotly anticipated than writer/director Joss Whedon’s upcoming film featuring Marvel Comics’ superhero team, The Avengers; which hits U.S. screens on May 4th. (Mr. Whedon has a very impressive PeekScore of 9.28, by the way.)

With a cast featuring quite a few “A-list” names, or those nearly so, this seemed a natural bunch to put to the PeekScore test; not measuring the degrees of their fame, nor commenting on their qualities as performers, but measuring their presences and various importance here in cyberspace (as explained above, and more in-depth by clicking through here). It seems that Ms. Johansson is one of our PeekScore elite, brandishing our top score of 10, followed closely by 2008′s comeback kid, Iron Man himself.

(We’ve written a bit about comics and such here at the blog before. If you click the highlighted text here, you can read an entry from last year wherein we babbled a bit about our relationship to the comics of Marvel’s top competitor. Give it a look.)
