What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.
We’ve done lists of hotshot philanthropists before, but this one’s a little different. These men and women certainly qualify as philanthropists as well, but this gaggle of magnates have been grouped together by us today on the basis of their activism, advocacy, and the degree to which they are outspoken on behalf of their (frankly) political inclinations. Hundreds of thousands, and in many cases millions, of their dollars are routinely dedicated to think tanks, causes, and the campaigns of political candidates (sometimes including personal campaigns) in line with their own personal beliefs. Some are rigidly conservative, some wildly liberal, and others still are more difficult to label, but they’re all unafraid to put their money where their mouths (and hearts) are, and vice versa, when it comes to their worldviews.
So, what can we at the PeekScore blog do with a group of outspoken gazllionaires? Well, we can only do what we always do, and what we were put on this Earth to do, and that’s measure their digital footprints – using our handy-dandy PeekScore scale – and rank them not according to the size of their fortunes or their donations, or the degree to which they are dedicated to their political opinions, but based on the size of their impact here on the Internet.
Are there any activist tycoons we neglected to include? Who below do you like? Who below do you dislike? Let us know in the comments.
