The PeekScores of Some of the Best Known Celebrity Philanthropists

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

While some will have a laugh at what they perceive as the self-importance and/or half-informed pomposity of the below thespians, pop singers, and broadcasters, the fact is that each of these men and women at least tries to take the unusually bright lights shone upon them by society to illuminate what they believe to be some of the planet’s more pressing concerns. These are ten of the superstars best known for their charitable and/or humanitarian endeavors.

While frequently with these PeekScore lists we present them as a contest, or at least a comparison, of the various names involved, with this list – as such gamesmanship seems out of keeping with the altruism theme – we instead propose this is simply a look at the digital footprints of each of these folks individually, and conveniently presented together. Ain’t that big of us? None is any better than the other, merely more present and impactful online (You can find the whole “digital footprint” concept outlined in brief above, and more in depth by clicking through here.)

The PeekScores of PeekYou’s 10 Most Searched For Female Celebrities

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.

The good folks over at Celebuzz.com asked us to cook up a list of the ten female celebrities who are searched for the most frequently on PeekYou. They then, of course (knowing how much we love to do such things), requested that we rank these women according to their PeekScores.

Being insanely famous, or being massively searched for online does not necessarily translate to the largest PeekScore (for the record, being searched for here on PeekYou has no impact on PeekScores whatsoever). Per usual, it is the celebrities who most actively participate in their online lives – via social networking, blogs, and personal websites – whose digital footprints are the most profound. Pop musicians seem to, in general, lead among the most robust social media existences and this is surely reflected in the scores below. We’ll spare you the long-winded analysis for the moment, but it obviously relates to the demographic of the pop music audience and the degree to which it intersects with the general specs of social media’s most avid users.

Yet another list of this precise nature, only for male celebs, is coming very soon, so stay tuned. And in the meantime, head on over to Celebuzz.com and spend some time clicking around there, why don’cha?

The Digital Footprints of the Year’s Top Paid Actresses

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.

Forbes has just released its list of the past year’s top paid actresses (or, if you’d prefer, female actors). You good people – the PeekScore blog’s dedicated readership – have responded well to previous PeekScore reevaluations of the most generously compensated (of this profession or that), so we’re just giving you a bit more of what you seem to like.

We’re not show-biz analysts, so we won’t comment on why one actor received more pay than another. When it comes to what we do know – digital footprints – we can say that those on top are there, it seems, to the largest extent because of the degree to which folks in cyberspace are writing about them. In general, this is not a bunch who are too active within the realms of social media. Some have official websites, or well-followed and verified Twitter accounts they don’t actually use (both of which will, of course, impact a PeekScore), but none of these ten ladies is an avid social networker. Some may once have been, but abandoned their Facebooks and Twitters for potentially personal reasons, probably (again) best left to those who make it their practice to comment on such things to analyze. Ahem.

What are your feelings on the women listed below? Do you have a favorite actress you’d like to see better paid, or with a higher PeekScore? Let us know in the comments.

The Cast of Kung Fu Panda 2

Some over here at PeekYou HQ must have seen 2008′s Kung Fu Panda, surely. Those of us actually writing this text, however, have not.

Through our ignorance, though, we can still guess with some confidence that the film’s titular panda – as voiced by Jack Black – was alive and well as the credits rolled. We’ve reached our conclusions regarding the bear’s fate having encountered nothing so much as a thumbnail plot synopsis, nor having read a single review. Our hypothesis is simply based upon our having learned that they’ve gone and made a sequel, unconfusingly titled Kung Fu Panda 2.

It could be a different panda, we suppose, but pandas are already scarce and the odds of there being two Kung Fu Pandas are probably pretty slim. For these reasons, as well as our familiarity with Hollywood’s reluctance to traumatize children with stark portrayals of the untimely demise of cute protagonists (however much these characters may be practitioners of a deadly art, or members of an endangered species), we feel confident proceeding with the assumption that it’s the same panda.

If you have kids of your own, you were already going to see this film, no matter how you feel about it. But perhaps, even if your life is lacking in rugrats and stinky little bundles of joy, you’d be doing yourself a favor by going to see it regardless (no need to worry about being lost for not having seen the first one, as we’ve now told you how that one ends). We’re not suggesting your life is empty due to your being childless, as ours are rich and full (and we are mostly barren), we’re merely suggesting that many of you could lighten up a bit. Take a break from the rat race, and watch a digitally animated panda perform kung fu (we’re assuming) for 2 or 3 hours, or however long this thing actually is. Get yourself two tickets; one for you, and one for the kid in you. It may be costly to do this, but think of the symbolism! You can’t quantify that sort of healing experience in mere dollars and cents. Besides, what were you going to spend that money on anyway? That’s right, nothing but beer and Skittles.

Anyway, we’ve taken the “a list” (voice) cast of this hotly anticipated piece of computer animated whimsy, and put them through the PeekScore rigors. Appropriately enough, however surprisingly, Jackie Chan tops our list, with Jack Black – the film’s (voice) star – dwelling at the list’s bottom. The world is topsy turvy, yet perhaps more as it should be, when refracted through the PeekScore prism.
