The PeekScores of Wall Street’s 25 Most Powerful Women

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

As we’ve pointed out here on numerous occasions prior (such as here), we wish we didn’t live in a world where the idea of women in positions of affluence and leadership seemed novel or worthy of singling out. It is 2013, after all. But, there’s no denying that — for at least today — such specific acknowledgements do still often seem appropriate.

That tiny bit of what should frankly be uncontroversial politics aside, a little while back the good people at Business Insider created a list celebrating the accomplishments of who they deemed to be The 25 Most Powerful Women On Wall Street (you can read their article here).

What we’ve done is what we always do, and taken these 25 women to see how they measure up and compare in terms of their relative impacts and presences in cyberspace, as quantified by our PeekScore scale (an assessment of their “digital footprints,” as it were, a concept explained in brief above, and more in depth here).

These women all have scores within a very narrow PeekScore range, with many statistical ties throughout. While no internet superstars to really be found among them (with few if any Twitter accounts or blogs, etc) they are all, at least in part owing to the internet’s extensive financial and business coverage, present and accounted for here on the Web.

Margaret Thatcher’s recent passing has made this seem a timely list. Here we’re looking at the PeekScores of the four living (current and past) British Prime Ministers. We’re comparing not their effectiveness as statesmen, nor their popularity while serving, but instead their current presences and impacts here in cyberspace.

The current PM quite comfortably leads the pack, which surprised us a bit as we thought this list’s runner up might be on top. What are your thoughts?

Some have followed in the political footsteps of their famous fathers (and at least one really did so), some have maintained public lives in other ways — as philanthropists, activists, broadcasters, and such — and others still have chosen to live their lives more quietly. But the one thing they all have in common is that they are each the offspring of a gentleman who at one time held the highest elected office in the U.S. government.

We’re not judging nor grading their accomplishments, but instead we’re looking at their assorted presences and impacts here on the Web (their “digital footprints,” as it were, a concept outlined in this entry’s header, and more in depth here).

There was little doubt who we’d find atop this list, as — whatever your opinion of him — even five years out of office, his is a name which is mentioned often. His impactfulness in the world at large translates fully to cyberspace. But the order of the names which follow may hold some surprises for you. They did for us.

Back in 2005, when it was first announced that an American version of Ricky Gervais‘ and Stephen Merchant‘s award winning, hit British sitcom The Office was in the works, few had high hopes for either its quality or its future. But, here we are nine seasons later, and that very same American remake finds itself finally signing off for good on May 16, after an impressive run, and as one of the more beloved American comedy programs of its era.

In honor of this occasion, we’ve taken all the most prominent series regulars from throughout the show’s run, and put them through their PeekScore paces, to see how they measure up here in cyberspace.

What Sizes are the Digital Footprints of the Living First Ladies?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Our current First Lady is a Harvard Law School educated attorney, and our last Secretary of State had previously been a First Lady for 8 years, and is still spoken of as something of a contender for the presidency. These are women who have accomplished a great deal more in their lives than merely marrying powerful men.

But, while acknowledging their many accomplishments, what the seven women listed below have in common is that they were each the First Lady of the United States at one time or another. What we’re doing here with them is what we always do, which is seeing how they measure and stack up when comparing their various impacts and prominences here in cyberspace (as detailed above).

The two women topping our list will surprise no one, the first — as noted above — is one of the most powerful women in the world, and the other is about as famous a figure as we have in our country right now (famous, even by First Lady standards).
