The Digital Footprints of the Judges and Hosts of The Voice

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

The American version of the enormously popular TV show / singing contest, The Voice, is now nearing the end of its fourth season. Inspired by the hubbub surrounding this occasion, we’ve put the program’s past and current hosts and judges through their PeekScore paces; measuring and comparing their assorted presences and impacts here on the Web, or if you prefer their “digital footprints” (a concept explained in this entry’s header and more in depth here).

On May 18th NBC’s Saturday Night Live will wrap its 38th season. Now that all of the remaining episodes’ guests have been booked and announced, we decided it would be fun to put all of this season’s hosts to the PeekScore test and compare their digital footprints (a concept explained in brief in this entry’s header, and more in depth here).

Our first place finisher will surprise few, if any, who are at all acquainted with this thing we call the internet. The enormously popular SNL host who is the runner up on our list isn’t bound to raise many eyebrows for his lofty spot either. But after that, there are some surprises to be found. Check it out.

Which of the Living Children of U.S. Presidents has the Largest Digital Footprint?

Some have followed in the political footsteps of their famous fathers (and at least one really did so), some have maintained public lives in other ways — as philanthropists, activists, broadcasters, and such — and others still have chosen to live their lives more quietly. But the one thing they all have in common is that they are each the offspring of a gentleman who at one time held the highest elected office in the U.S. government.

We’re not judging nor grading their accomplishments, but instead we’re looking at their assorted presences and impacts here on the Web (their “digital footprints,” as it were, a concept outlined in this entry’s header, and more in depth here).

There was little doubt who we’d find atop this list, as — whatever your opinion of him — even five years out of office, his is a name which is mentioned often. His impactfulness in the world at large translates fully to cyberspace. But the order of the names which follow may hold some surprises for you. They did for us.

And here is yet another PeekScore list to tie-in with the 85th Academy Awards (you can see the first entry – wherein we rank the acting nominees – here, and the follow-up where we look at the directing nominees here). This time around we’re focusing not on the honored films but instead on the ceremony itself. This entry is looking at and comparing the hosts of the last 10 Oscar ceremonies with the host of the ceremony which is just around the corner, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

As always, we’re not here to grade these men and women on their hosting skills, nor even their general fame or notoriety. We’re simply calculating and reporting on where these folks stand in terms of the impact they’re each making here in cyberspace. While they were considered lackluster hosts by the most charitable of assessments at the time, here in the ether our number one and number two entries (2011′s co-hosts) leave a mighty footprint.

Which of Time’s Candidates for 2012′s Person of the Year Has the Largest Digital Footprint?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

In 1927, Time Magazine selected transatlantic aviator Charles Lindbergh as their first ever “Man of the Year” (a distinction later made less blatantly politically wrong and renamed “Person of the Year”). Since then they have annually selected a person – or sometimes an object, concept, or group of people – that they believe “for better or for worse” has had the greatest impact on that year’s events. From Martin Luther King, Jr. to Adolph Hitler, from Mark Zuckerberg to Pope John Paul II to the “The Middle Americans” their selections have run the gamut from the clearly deserved to the esoteric, and have frequently been the stuff of controversy. With yet another year upon this planet coming to a close, and another “Person of the Year” issue inevitably upon us, it seemed a good idea to put Time’s short-list of this year’s “hopefuls” (click highlighted link to see) to the PeekScore test.

The non-human and/or non-specific human nominees deserve a mention: The Higgs Boson, The Mars Rover, and Undocumented Immigrants. They are not reflected in the list below, as PeekYou doesn’t yet – and indeed may never – index particles or unmanned space vehicles, and the last is of course a large group of individuals (who, it could be noted, may by their very nature never find their way to PeekYou).

This is not a measurement of the likelihood of any one of these people being selected by Time’s editorial staff (an announcement which is to be made only a couple of days from when we’re posting this), nor is it a measurement of their greatness, nor even their fame and/or infamy in the world at large. This is a look at the degrees to which each of these men and women are impactful here in cyberspace. It is, if you will, a look at their digital footprints; a concept you will find explained in brief above, and more in depth by clicking through here.
