Who are the Plus-Size Models with the Largest Digital Footprints?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Here at the PeekScore blog, we try to not inject our opinions into the hubbub surrounding various sociological and/or political issues. But we will opine that it’s a bit absurd that our culture’s collective body image is so warped that it’s heralded as some kind of a triumph for “real people” when the implausibly beautiful women on the list below are employed to sell clothing. Nevertheless, the expectation — regardless of the fact that it doesn’t necessarily correspond to what people actually find attractive — is that a fashion model will be a size zero. These women below have bucked professional custom and made names for themselves by being slightly larger framed than that. They are the most prominent “plus-size” models working right now.

We don’t measure height or waist or hips, and we don’t measure paydays. But we do measure “digital footprints” (a concept explained in brief above, and more in depth here). We’ve taken these ten women and put them through their PeekScore paces, and have ranked and compared them based on the sizes of their impacts here in cyberspace.

With the holiday season just about under way, and the retail frenzy about to be unleashed, we’ve decided to create a PeekScore list in keeping with the season. In addition to wanting to celebrate all things retail, we’ve always had fun here doing lists about the fashion industry. Today we’ve decided to put the Creative Directors of some of the top fashion labels under our PeekScore microscope, and see who among them currently is making the largest digital footprint.

It is not a list full of surprises. Those who are the Creative Directors of labels with which they also share a name, and those who are more veteran and established, top the list. In addition to the greater amount of written coverage they receive, both in and out of the fashion press and blogs, this “household name” set also seem to be the more net savvy and socially networked of this lot. The list’s lower reaches are populated by folks who are more rookie, or who perhaps choose to do their work in more anonymity.

Still, judging by these PeekScores, all here are present and spoken of on the web. Given the enormous number of fashion sites and blogs found throughout cyberspace, and given the notoriety of each of the companies represented below, this is as it should be.

Who would you like to have seen included? Which designers and/or creative directors are exciting you these days? Any surprises below? Let us know in the comments.

The PeekScores of the Year’s Top Paid Models

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Not too terribly long ago we here at the PeekScore blog took a look at the online impacts of the world’s wealthiest models; those victors of the genetic lottery, of whom the camera is (and advertisers are) so enamored, who in addition to their looks-wise luck, and abilities to pose and be well groomed, demonstrated significant enough smarts and business acumen to have accumulated over the course their careers substantial fortunes. That was the world of the comely of face and hip in macro, today we’re looking at the well-rewarded – in most conventionally accepted, superficial senses (i.e., looks and money) – on the smaller scale; those who were best paid for their efforts, and abilities to wear outfits well, over the past year.

As we always stress with each of these entries, this is not a comparison of any aspect of the lives of these individuals apart from their respective presences, prominences, and impacts here in cybserpace; their “digital footprints,” if you will (an explanation of which can be found above, or more in depth by clicking through here).

Back in February, Forbes Magazine had former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Kathy Ireland, on its cover to accompany an article wherein it was revealed that – via her numerous contracts and clothing lines, and assorted business ventures – Ms. Ireland’s current net worth is somewhere in the neighborhood of about $315 million; astronomical earnings and holdings, which find her now the richest model on Earth. As you readers of the PeekScore blog seem to like it when we write about models, and nearly as much when we write about money, a list of this sort seemed a natural. We know that Ms. Ireland’s is the biggest pile of loot, but how does she measure up in comparison to the remainder of the world’s ten richest models when it comes to her presence and impact here on the web?

Doing as we always do, we’ve employed our amazing little PeekScore scale to see how these women – both photogenic and industrious out in the flesh and blood world, as they all evidently are – compare when it comes to digital footprints (an explanation of which can be found above, or more in-depth by clicking through here).

The uniformly high scores suggest that this is, from the perspective of cyberspace, a very famous group of women.

Any thoughts or feelings on Ms. Ireland’s bounty and numerous successes? Any models you would have more expected to see counted among the worlds most richly rewarded? Let us know in the comments.

Which of the World’s Top Models has the Largest Digital Footprint?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. It’s been a while since we’ve done a list of (female) fashion/swimsuit/lingerie models here at the PeekScore blog, so we figure we’re due. We’ll spare you the diatribes and justifications we’ve provided for such lists in the past, and simply get right down to it.

Here are ten of the world’s top, current, working models, ranked not by how in demand they are, and surely not by how beautiful they are, but by the sizes of their digital footprints (as explained above, as well as behind this link).

As fashion has long been one of the more progressive industries, in terms of embracing the digital realm, it’s not entirely shocking that all of these women find themselves with a fairly large score. But Kate and Heidi, both still household names many years into their careers, have edged out the competition. More stunning, and less predictable perhaps, would be the third place finish and accompanying score of Ms Lima.

Do you have any favorite models who were left off? Do any of these results surprise you? Let us know in the comments.

Comparing the PeekScores of Famous Sibling Pairs

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.

It was suggested to us by a close colleague that we maybe try something different with our next PeekScore list. The suggestion was that instead of taking 10 or 20, or however many celebrities, athletes, poets, or whatever, and comparing the sizes of their digital footprints en masse, as we normally do, we take a bunch of different celebrity sibling pairs – as so many are kicking around and receiving notice these days – and pit them against each other in head-to-head PeekScore melees.

So, without much in the way of elaboration necessary, we suspect, that’s what you see below.

In most of these pairings there is an arguable “more famous” sibling, and most results conform to those popular perceptions. There are, however, some surprises to be found.

Although it’s not the most meaningful of bonus tales to tell, a master list of all the participants in these pairings, and where they fall PeekScore-wise in relation to each other, can be found at the bottom of this entry. We figure that some may be curious.

We know there are many sibling pairings we left out. Did we leave out any of your faves? Let us know in the comments.

PeekScore Competitions: Fashion Designers, Under 40 vs. Over 65

While competition is the crucial engine driving industry – and some might argue that it’s what inspires all human progress – the “competition” being staged here isn’t driving much of anything meaningful, and is purely for show and to cater to our whim and your amusement. If we were to put the twenty unbearably fabulous women and men listed below in a room together, while they may not have much time for us – the comparative slobs who run the PeekScore blog (and apparently this hypothetical room into which we’d be putting them) – we suspect they’d get along with each other, at least to one another’s faces, more or less fine.

Very recently we took a look at the fashion designers with the highest PeekScores of all. The response to that list was extremely enthusiastic, so – forever interested in giving you good people what you want, as we’ve got a business to run here – we’ve decided to hybridize that previously, foolishly underused PeekScore avenue (fashion) with our introduced, but yet to be exhaustively explored PeekScore Competitions concept (a concept which was also met with a positive response from our readership). This time around, as with last time, it’s a “youngsters vs. veterans” competition; again exploring, in a terribly unscientific way, the notion that social media’s generation gap may not translate to all quarters and industries. But this time we’ve pitted two groupings with a quarter century separating them at the very least, and somewhere in the neighborhood of over 60 years at most; fashion designers, young vs. (um) not quite so young.

Our young designers are not all newcomers, strictly speaking, nor are they all upstarts. Some have been around for quite a few seasons now and are well known. But they are all under 40 which, as it is the new 30, means that they’re all under (new) middle-age. On the other hand our veterans are all, technically speaking, senior citizens (in the “bus pass” and “half-price movies” sense), as – no matter the degrees to which many are still quite actively designing and running their businesses – they all exceed 65.

So, enough jibber jabber, let’s get down to it and see what our young designers are made of here in cyberspace.

AVERAGE PEEKSCORE: 8.00

Curiously, given what we know of both the proclivities of our society’s younger folks, and of the realities of commercial ventures in the modern western world, this is not the most wired-in group of individuals you could ever come across. They may be forward-thinking and hip in many senses, but only about half of them seem to have truly handed themselves over to a rich online existence (for either themselves, personally, or their labels). The fellow at number one is present enough here in cyberspace to have ranked a spot on our Fashion Designers with the Highest PeekScores list, and two others (Sarah Burton and Alexander Wang) would have made that list had we compiled it today, but the remainder – no matter the degree of their name recognition, or success in the press, or even at retail – fell a bit short of that.

But, our elegant and gracefully aged (depending upon your definition of grace) veterans have not yet been analyzed, so let’s not count the youngsters out just yet. Let’s see how our living legends hold up.

AVERAGE PEEKSCORE: 8.17

Well, it would seem – as with our last list of this nature – that the older folks did win. It was close, but experience did equal victory; even if that analysis is hardly fair.

Now, in the interest of facts, it must be acknowledged that these older designers are not all by any means the ones personally updating their Twitters, and Facebooks, and what-have-yous (some, we suspect, may do it some of the time). Why, our number 3 was unwittingly on the record as recently as just this last fall confirming that he has no idea what the heck Facebook is. But they’re successful and quite well-known companies bear their names, and the online presence of those names – which in many cases is considerable – will rightfully influence their PeekScores.

Was it a fair fight? Not really. We pitted international superstars against people mostly best known only in fashion circles.

What have we learned? First and foremost, that PeekScores do what they’re supposed to do, and accurately measure an individual’s impact in cyberspace. We learned, honestly, that as of right now – regardless of whether or not the designers themselves are the impetus for this prominence – the veterans are doing a better job of having their presence felt here on the public web.

And, well, we learned how each of the above designers, only a few of whom were covered on our last list, are doing in the digital footprint department, and we think – particularly to those who care about fashion – that might be pretty interesting in and of itself.

The Fashion Designers with the Highest PeekScores

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news.

This list requires little in the way of explanation or elaboration. Simply, of all the over 250,000,000 people indexed in PeekYou‘s frankly awesome database, these are the 10 fashion designers with the highest PeekScores.

All of these folks have some sort of social networking presence, or at least their companies/labels do. All have big, fancy sites for their assorted bigger, fancier business endeavors. Add to all of this their general global fame, and an online fashion media that is constantly generating content, and you have a collection of whopping PeekScores below.

Who would you have expected to see higher? Who are you surprised to see so high? Who are some of your favorite designers? Let us know in the comments.
