Which 2012 Summer Olympian has the Largest Digital Footprint?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

On July 27, the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, or officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad, will commence in London, UK. Of the estimated 10,000 athletes participating, with this entry we’re taking a look at ten who, at this moment in time – before the games have started, and before perhaps new stars emerge – are being spoken and/or written of frequently online and off, and whose performances in the games are hotly anticipated.

Measuring each athlete on our 1-10 PeekScore scale, we’re assessing not his or her prowess on the field or in the pool (or wherever), but instead we’re looking at the mark being left here in cyberspace (the digital footprints, if you will, a concept explained in brief above, and more in depth by clicking through here).

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, our list is topped by a pair of veteran, professional athletes and long established, world class champions, who are also Olympians. Our fourth place finisher may be the most famous Olympian on the planet, or surely in PeekYou’s homeland, going into these games. Here on the web however, at this moment, as high as his score is, he is surpassed.

The PeekScores of Marvel’s and DC’s Movie Superheroes

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. It’s been a heck of a time to be a nerd, in recent years. Genre TV shows – featuring convoluted plot twists and sexy robots, and what-have-you – have massive budgets and mainstream successes, even beyond basement dwelling, Mountain Dew swilling Dungeons & Dragons devotees. And for a number of years now, each summer finds many of the season’s most hotly anticipated cinema titles featuring men and women in sculpted rubber and spandex, thwarting evildoers in spectacular, CGI-laden fashion. Comic book flicks are big business, and not just with comic book nerds.

This summer movie season has already featured Marvel’s The Avengers and is soon to bring us new installments from D.C. Comics’ Batman (opens 7/20) and Marvel’s Spider-Man (opens 7/3).

Of the actors currently associated with active, major superhero franchises, the ten names below have the largest PeekScores. The PeekScore, of course, measures not these individuals’ respective accomplishments in the worlds of cinema, but instead their impacts here in cyberspace (their digital footprints, a concept briefly explained in the disclaimer above, and more in depth by clicking through here).

Would you like to see us do a list of this nature for some older movie superheroes? How about supervillians? Let us know in the comments.

Which Soccer Superstar has made the Biggest Impact in Cyberspace?

We recently did a PeekScore list of The Internet’s Biggest Sports Stars. Many seemed surprised to find that three of the highest ranking names on it were athletes not in baseball nor the NFL, but instead in the sport of which most of the world is thinking when they hear the word football.

While the short-lived NASL (North American Soccer League) did sell out stadiums for a time in the late-70s – at least for so long as international superstar Pelé, the man widely acknowledged as one of the greatest to ever play the game, was in the league – soccer has never really been able to gain any lasting popularity here in the states. The rest of the world is unconcerned with what we yanks find worthy of attention, and as such some of the most impactful individuals in all of cyberspace are indeed soccer players. So, they are a natural for a list of this nature.

We’ve decided to see who among this sport’s athletes is the biggest deal here on the Web. We’re not measuring their skills as athletes, nor even their fame out in the world at large. This is a comparison and assessment of their various impacts on the Net, or if you will their digital footprints; a concept you can find explained in brief above, or more in depth by clicking through here. Each of the men listed below has millions of followers and/or friends at social media, and is a legitimate pop culture sensation throughout many parts of the world. Accordingly, the footprints are deep throughout.

Which of the Stars of HBO’s Original Series has the Largest Digital Footprint?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. Trailblazing premium cable channel HBO (originally, Home Box Office) first introduced weekly, episodic comedy and drama programming into its schedule in the early 80s, with shows such as Not Necessarily the News and The Hitchhiker. By the early 90s, with the Emmy winning, groundbreaking, and insanely influential The Larry Sanders Show as the jewel in its crown, they proved that cable could compete with the networks in the area of series television when it came to praise and accolades. By the time The Sopranos made a massive critical and ratings mark in the late 90s, it was clear that HBO had raised the bar for all of American TV, and that stateside audiences were ready and eager for television of some quality. Beholden only to subscribers and not advertisers, as they were, HBO was willing to grant their series’ creators enormous artistic freedoms, and the result was TV of a depth and originality rarely at that time seen on U.S. screens. Not every series has been a hit, nor have they all been anything like good, but usually HBO’s original series are striving to do something of quality and they continue to generally keep the watermark high.

Below is a list of the actors and actresses behind ten of HBO’s current series’ protagonists (fudged a little, as not all of their current series have a clear one). We’ve ranked these actors based upon their PeekScores, meaning the sizes of their impacts and resonances here in cyberspace (or, if you prefer, their digital footprints; a concept you will find explained in brief in the above disclaimer, or more in depth by clicking through here).

Are there any current HBO series’ stars you’d like to see us feature? How about any of HBO’s series’ full casts? How about any of their former series, such as The Sopranos or Sex and the City? Let us know in the comments.

Who are the Top Stockbrokers on the Web?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

This is a list of individuals identified online as being or having been stockbrokers, ranked not according to their profiles in the worlds of business and finance, nor on the varying degrees of their successes and/or failures, but on the extent to which they’ve each individually made an impact here in cyberspace (i.e., their digital footprints, a concept you can read described in brief in the above disclaimer, or more in depth by clicking through here).

The only editorial hand we at the PeekScore blog played in this list’s contents was deciding to keep it to people who are most closely associated – in the public’s mind – with finance or business. Two notable former stockbrokers not included below are Martha Stewart, who carries our maximum PeekScore of 10 (which means that were she on it, she’d handily top our list), and adult film star Lexington Steele, who has a PeekScore of 8.35.

The PeekScores of the Cast of Rock of Ages

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

The jukebox musical Rock of Ages came to Broadway in 2009, presenting itself as a tribute to the big hair and hedonism of the 1980s Sunset Strip rock scene. While the show contains virtually no music by the actual bands from that scene – instead favoring the mainstream, AOR corporate rock of roughly that same era (Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, and so forth) – it was (and remains) all the same a massive hit. On June 15 a star-studded film version of the show comes to cinema screens, and we here at the PeekScore blog view this occasion as a great excuse to do a similarly star-studded PeekScore list.

This PeekScore list, of course, is not a measurement of the celebrity or the skills of any of these folks listed below, but instead is an assessment and comparison of their assorted impacts here on the Web (their digital footprints, if you will, a concept you can see explained in brief above, or more in depth by clicking through here). The gentleman at number one would likely surprise few for topping a list of this nature, as his impact is widely recognized in spheres both actual and virtual. To Americans, however, the number two finisher may come as a greater surprise. But, in addition to being a stadium headlining comedian in his home country of the U.K., he’s also a bit of a giant at social media, and was major gossip blog fodder over the past year or so for his recent marriage to, and divorce from, Katy Perry.
