Which of the NYC Mayoral Candidates has the Largest Digital Footprint?

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Mike Bloomberg still has another year and a half remaining on his third term as New York City’s mayor, but already attentions are beginning to turn to whom his successor might be come the start of 2014. This entry here is the first of what may be quite a few such entries, where we will assess and compare the digital footprints of those hoping to run PeekYou‘s hometown.

This entry’s title is slightly misleading, as only some of the individuals below have officially announced their candidacies (Tom Allon, Scott Stringer, and Mayor Bloomberg’s chief opponent in the last election, Bill Thompson), but these are ten of the most prominent names finding their way into the general scuttlebutt, or – as is the case with this list’s first place finisher – being mentioned frequently in the press as possible candidates.

This is not a commentary on the likelihood, or lack thereof, of any of these folks becoming mayor. This is simply a look at their relative impacts and presences here in cyberspace (their digital footprints, as we call them, a concept you can see explained in brief above, or more in depth by clicking through here).

Any potential and/or announced candidate whom we’ve left off? Let us know in the comments.

The PeekScores of the Political Blogosphere’s Top 30 Names

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

The PeekScore blog may make a slightly pointed remark about a TV show, movie star, or prominent media figure now and again, but when it comes to matters and figures political we stay well the heck out of it and simply report the facts. We’re here, after all, to promote our frankly incredible PeekScore product, and not our countless takes on the day’s many events. We want no part of those arguments. The men and women listed below surely on occasion deal in facts as well, but the bread and butter for the majority of them is provided via their not being the least bit shy when it comes to espousing their points of view.

Below are 30 of the individuals most closely associated with 30 of the Internet’s most prominent political websites and/or blogs. As we do around here, we’ve listed them in order – from highest to lowest – according to their PeekScores. This is not a measurement of the traffic their sites receive, nor even of the degrees to which they wield political influence. This is a measurement of the presences and impacts of these individuals here in cyberspace; their digital footprints, as we say (a concept you will find explained in brief above, and more in depth by clicking through here).

Please feel free to comment on this entry providing suggestions of bloggers you think should be included on this list, and let us know your opinions of where your favorite (or least favorite) blogger currently rests in the rankings.

The Digital Footprints of the Internet’s Biggest Sports Stars

Any one of the names below will grant you millions upon millions of hits on most of the major web search engines, and each of the men featured on this list has millions of followers on Twitter and/or Facebook, and often both. At this moment in time, these are the ten individual athletes making the greatest impacts here in cyberspace. We are surprised and excited to see that the list is so diverse in terms of the nations included (if not in terms of the sports represented, with soccer and basketball dominating, tennis coming up the rear, and cricket making a somewhat unexpected appearance).

Given the enormous global fame of the folks on this list, a large portion of them are currently graded with our ultimate PeekScore of 10. The 10 is a rare score, but this is a rare bunch of global super-celebrities. While very slight, there is a teensy bit of wiggle room near the ceiling of our digital footprint scoring scale. The order these athletes are listed in below is accurate, and as a result, in this case the story comes from the rankings more so than the scores themselves.

The PeekScores of the Cast of MTV’s Teen Wolf

What is PeekScore?: PeekScore is a rank from 1 to 10, assigned to every person. The higher someone’s score, the “more important” they are on the web. In calculating your PeekScore and updating it often, PeekYou takes into account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to; your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news. For first time visitors a more in-depth explanation of what the PeekScore is, and how to increase your own, can be found by clicking through here.

Seeming to owe more of a debt to the melodrama and pouts and pecs of the insanely popular Twilight flicks – and their resident brooding werewolf Taylor Lautner – than to the popular, quirky 1980s Michael J. Fox vehicle from which it gets its name, MTV’s Teen Wolf has nonetheless, or perhaps as a result, proved to be quite popular with its target demographic (consisting definitely of teens, and possibly also of wolves).

In honor of this basic cable success story, and its advertiser-desirable following, we’ve decided it time to put the fine thespians who make up Teen Wolf‘s cast through their PeekScore paces. We’re not comparing their abilities as actors, nor even their fame and success out in the flesh and blood world at large. This is solely a measurement and comparison of the cast’s digital footprints (a concept you can find explained in brief above, or more in depth by clicking through here).
